On Saturday, Nov. 21, the gates close at Cumming Nature Center on Gulick Road. The Rochester Museum & Science Center's hours page lists the center as closed from that Saturday through Tuesday, Dec. 15, and reopening on Wednesday, Dec. 16. Up the valley, Bristol Mountain has posted Dec. 13, 2026 as the tentative start of its peak operating schedule for the 2026–27 season.
Put those two dates side by side and you get roughly three weeks, from Nov. 21 to Dec. 13, when both of the Naples Valley's big outdoor draws are idle. In that stretch the calendar moves indoors and gets much smaller. Most of what is on it sits between 111 and 151 South Main Street, plus two pie dates on Route 21 and one bar on Route 64.
The Last Weekend Before the Nature Center Goes Quiet
The gap opens with Cumming's final programs. Blacksmithing is on the schedule for Sunday, Nov. 15, which makes it the center's last listed event before the closure. The center is at 6472 Gulick Road, and its programs and events page carries the full fall lineup.
After that weekend, the trails at Cumming are off the list until mid-December. Anyone planning an outdoor Saturday in the valley between Thanksgiving and the second week of December will find the place closed until it reopens on Dec. 16.
South Main Street Carries the Calendar
Three addresses on a short run of South Main Street hold most of the scheduled activity during the gap:
| Address | Venue | What's on during the gap |
|---|---|---|
| 111 S. Main St. | The Naples Hotel | Restaurant and taproom open Wednesday through Sunday; Weekend Warmup on Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m. |
| 118 S. Main St. | Naples Library | Mini Wreath Decorating, Nov. 17; Hot Cocoa Acrylic Painting Class, Nov. 20; weekly programs |
| 151 S. Main St. | Bristol Valley Theater | The Nile Singers' tribute to Pink Floyd, Saturday, Nov. 28, 7 p.m. |
The library's two November programs land on the Tuesday and Friday right before the nature center closes. The Naples Library calendar lists Mini Wreath Decorating on Tuesday, Nov. 17 and a Hot Cocoa Acrylic Painting Class on Friday, Nov. 20.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving belongs to Bristol Valley Theater. BVT's event page lists The Nile Singers for Saturday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m., with tickets at $25 in advance and $30 at the door. The Explore Naples calendar describes the group as a cooperative of mostly Rochester-based musicians who reimagine classic rock albums. The $5 gap between pre-sale and door price matters on a holiday weekend, when plans tend to come together late.
The Naples Hotel runs restaurant and taproom hours of 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. On Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m., the Explore Naples calendar lists the hotel's Weekend Warmup, featuring $5 Bloody Marys. The hotel also books holiday parties for groups of up to 75 and says its December weekends fill first. With both outdoor anchors idle until mid-December, those same December weekends are when the indoor rooms on Main Street get the most attention.
A Week in the Gap, Day by Day
Specific dates are only part of the picture. The rest is a weekly pattern that repeats through November and into December on the Explore Naples events calendar, and it fills more of the week than most people expect.
| Day | Recurring listing | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Sensory Exploration Indoor Playtime, Naples Library, ages 0–5 | 10 a.m.–noon and 3–5 p.m. |
| Tuesday | Curious Kids, Naples Library, ages 6–11 | 3–4 p.m. |
| Wednesday | Story Time, Naples Library, ages 0–5 and families | 4–5 p.m. |
| Wednesday | Corks & Chords, Lock Stock Bar & Grill | 6–9 p.m. |
| Thursday | Gentle Yoga with Pauline Johnson, Fire Hall | 5:45–6:45 a.m. |
| Friday | Chess, Naples Library, all ages, beginners welcome | 10 a.m.–noon |
| Saturday | Weekend Warmup, The Naples Hotel | Noon–4 p.m. |
| Sunday | Soundcheck Sunday open jam with Rick Constantino, Lock Stock Bar & Grill | Afternoon; see below |
Four of the seven weekdays include a Naples Library program, and that is the backbone of the weekday calendar during the gap. The Thursday morning yoga at the Fire Hall starts at 5:45, which suits anyone whose week otherwise starts with a commute up Route 21.
Lock Stock Bar & Grill is at 5432 State Route 64 in Bristol, on the way up toward the mountain. Kevin and Leeann Barton took ownership in June 2019 and reopened the rebranded restaurant after an eight-month remodel. Its events page lists the Wednesday program as Corks & Chords with Bruce Wayne & Friends, 6 to 9 p.m. The same page describes Soundcheck Sunday as a weekly open jam that runs 3 to 6 p.m. and moves to 5 to 8 p.m. during football season. The winter hours on the restaurant's site have the kitchen open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The bar stays open until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday. Lock Stock took bronze in the 2026 FLX Finest awards for Best Sports Bar and Best Bloody Mary.
At the other end of the village, Naples Brewing Company changed hands this year. Cleveland Prost reported in May that the Irwin family, who own Naples Wood Fired Pizza and Smokehouse BBQ, bought the brewery and planned to keep its name, logo and recipes. Life in the Finger Lakes later reported that Tyler Irwin brewed a first batch alongside the founding brewers.
Route 21 Has One Date per Holiday
South of the village, the gap has two fixed points, one on each side of it. Monica's Pies at 7599 State Route 21 lists special public sales on Sunday, Nov. 22 for Thanksgiving pies and Sunday, Dec. 20 for Christmas pies, both from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Nov. 22 sale falls on the first Sunday after Cumming closes, four days before Thanksgiving. The Dec. 20 sale comes after Bristol's tentative Dec. 13 start and four days after Cumming reopens. So the two pie Sundays bracket the quiet stretch almost exactly.
Hometown Wine Company keeps fall and holiday hours through December: Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. It closes on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, on Dec. 24 and 25, and from Dec. 30 through Jan. 1. It reopens on Saturday, Jan. 2 with shorter winter hours of Thursday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. For anyone stocking up for a holiday table, the last full week of longer hours is the week before Christmas.
When the Mountain Comes Back
The end of the gap is also when the bill for the next season comes due. Bristol Mountain's 2026–27 season products page says its Flex passes are on sale only through Nov. 30, 2026. That is a Monday, two days after the BVT show and two weeks before the tentative peak-schedule start.
Here is how the Flex tiers compare on a per-day basis:
- 3 days: $246, about $82 per day
- 5 days: $375, $75 per day
- 7 days: $509, about $73 per day
The step from three days to seven adds four days of skiing for $263. That works out to just under $66 per added day, so the larger card costs less per day.
A different product stays on sale longer. The 12-ticket, transferable 1,200-foot Vertical Card costs $950 and can be bought through Dec. 31, 2026. That comes to roughly $79 per ticket, more per day than the 7-day Flex. But the tickets can be shared, and the card can still be bought a month after the Flex sale ends. A household that won't know its ski plans until after Bristol opens can still buy it in December. For regulars, the Executive Season Pass lists at $1,070 for the adult or primary family member and $850 for seniors age 70 and older.
Bristol's April 2026 season wrap-up counted 111 days of operation in 2025–26. Against that, three weeks of quiet before a tentative Dec. 13 start is a short pause. Cumming reopens on Wednesday, Dec. 16, and Monica's Christmas pie sale follows four days later on Sunday, Dec. 20.
